Final Stakeholder Workshop Marks Completion of Participatory Process for
Kragujevac’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan
The final stakeholder workshop within the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for the City of Kragujevac was held on June 1, 2026, at the City Hall, bringing together representatives of local institutions, public enterprises, civil society organizations, and mobility experts. The workshop represented the concluding participatory event in a year-long process of preparing the city’s first comprehensive Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.
Organized under the UN-Habitat programme, the workshop focused on reviewing proposed mobility measures, structuring them into action plans, and defining priorities for implementation. Participants discussed how strategic objectives developed during previous workshops could be translated into concrete projects capable of improving mobility, accessibility, and quality of life for citizens.
The event gathered 17 participants, including representatives of the City of Kragujevac, the Public Utility Company “Šumadija”, local civil society organizations, urban planning professionals, and members of the national expert team supporting the SUMP process. Representatives of the implementing partner, Academy Sumadija, also took part in the discussions.
A key part of the workshop was dedicated to understanding the structure of action plans and the practical steps required for successful implementation. Participants reviewed proposed measures, discussed implementation priorities, and provided recommendations for flagship projects that could deliver visible and measurable improvements in urban mobility across the city.
The workshop also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation among local stakeholders beyond the planning phase. Throughout the SUMP development process, stakeholder engagement played a central role in identifying mobility challenges, shaping a shared vision, and defining realistic solutions tailored to the needs of Kragujevac. Previous workshops addressed issues such as accessibility, active mobility, public transport, parking policy, and long-term mobility planning.
With the completion of the final stakeholder workshop, the participatory phase of the SUMP preparation process has been successfully concluded. The outcomes of the event will contribute to the final implementation chapter of the plan, helping the City of Kragujevac prioritize investments and establish a clear roadmap for creating a safer, more accessible, and more sustainable urban mobility system in the years ahead.
